A private family foundation with roots on Vancouver Island.

the foundation

Alacanastu became a registered charity in 2016 as a slow, thoughtful development from a growing family based in Victoria and Vancouver, BC.

Our mission.

Our mission is to provide funding to Southern Vancouver Island foundations who address housing, education, and/or the environment within their programs or campaigns.

Our values.

We value the well-being, sustainability, and health of our local and regional communities in order to foster brighter futures for the next generation.

Like many parents, we talk about the future a lot; how our children will grow, what they will like, who they’ll connect with. We also talk about how they will handle climate change, and how we can best raise activists and allies so they are empowered and empathetic on the road to sustainability.

We hope to use this opportunity to give back in any way to the people and spaces of our community; to listen, learn, and contribute to the many already practiced answers to these big questions all families are asking.

We hope to contribute positively to the next generation through initiatives and partnerships that centre community and happiness.
